Here’s the first batch of the Team’s favourite moments in pictures – more to come!

James: “Though I have a huge range of pictures taken from the trip which all continue to take my breath away, I think this one best captures the best of the experience and emotions I felt. It shows both the unique and iconic life found here and the scale of this wilderness relative to ourselves and our vessel. It reminds me both why I came on this expedition and why this continent and its life are worth studying and protecting.”

Scott: “It is impossible for me to say which animal sighting was the best and so I’ve picked this, an Antarctic sunrise. Freezing temperatures and thick fog had made the start to the day a bit challenging but this Antarctic sunrise is one of the most beautiful memories of the trip. The sun emerged from the fog and lit up our path through the broken ice which was cracking against the hull of the ship.”

Max: “I don’t think I could single out a favourite moment, but I think all the charm of Antarctica was present in the Lemaire Channel. Being on the zodiacs past the glaciers and the minke whales was an experience I’ll never forget.”

Jonathan: “I have attached my favourite photo that I took of three penguins with some buildings against a sunset. I chose the piece because of the contrast of the bright sunset with the lower image, but also I like how the image is broken up into different subject matters by sharp angled lines of occluding terrain.”
