We’re getting ready for the fourth St Andrews Antarctic expedition! In March 2016 14 new student expeditioners from the MSc Marine Mammal Science, MSc Ecosystem-based Management of Marine Systems and Senior Honours Biology year will be heading South to the Beagle Channel, and from there on to the Antarctic Peninsula. As in the past we’ll be using the MV Plancius as our base while looking out for whales, seals and seabirds as well as undertaking oceanographic sampling at sites along the way. Sonja and Lars have been busy giving lectures about the Southern Ocean and the Antarctic ecosystem whetting the students’ appetite for adventure, science and the amazing sights to come. As in the past the students will be sharing their experiences here in this blog…. Stay tuned.
