End of the World again
Today we woke for the last time aboard the M/V Plancius to our favourite wake-up call of “Good morning, Good morning”. We were almost alongside in Ushuaia and were greeted by a gorgeous sunrise and the twinkling lights of the city. We took full advantage of our final breakfast onboard wondering how we would cope without the huge selection of pastries and fruit.
Our bags were lifted off and after trying to hide on the ship we walked off the gangway. Emotional goodbyes were said to David, the ever helpful birder, and other friends we had made onboard. On the jetty we hugged all of the amazing expedition guides goodbye and walked away from the ship we had called home for the previous nine days.
After dropping our bags off at the hotel we walked around Ushuaia in the glorious sunshine. It was such a change from the cold winds of the ship. Later in the afternoon we came together and looked at all of the data we had collected during the voyage. We were all slightly overwhelmed by the amount of data we had collected and all the possibilities for projects.
In the evening all the students went for a group meal in a quaint restaurant just a block away from the hotel. Conversation over dinner involved everyone sharing their favourite moments from the trip and reminiscing over what already feels too distant a memory.
